[ OVERVIEW ]

What is Próspera?

Próspera is a special economic zone on the island of Roatán, Honduras, with its own legal framework, competitive tax structure, and governance model.

Who joins Próspera?

Próspera draws entrepreneurs, remote workers, biotech researchers, crypto builders, and investors seeking a low-tax jurisdiction with modern legal tools. Members range from digital nomads looking for a year-round base to companies launching Caribbean operations. With 1,700+ e-residents from 40+ countries and 500+ businesses incorporated, the zone has developed an active community around healthcare innovation, financial technology, and governance research.

[ HISTORY ]

Próspera was conceived by founder and CEO Erick A. Brimen, who identified Roatán's potential in the early 2000s but saw legal infrastructure as the missing piece. When Honduras passed the Zones for Employment and Economic Development (ZEDE) framework in 2013, Brimen recognized it as the vehicle to build the governance platform he had long envisioned.

The project secured ZEDE status and land rights on Roatán in 2017. Construction began in spring 2020 on a 58-acre site adjacent to Crawfish Rock, and the zone went live that same year. By 2023, three resident sub-communities had established roots inside the zone: Vitalia (longevity research and biotech acceleration), Cabin (a network city project), and Nomad Nation (digital nomad housing). Duna Tower, the flagship residential and commercial building, reached full occupancy by early 2025, and Coinbase announced an investment in January 2025.

In April 2022, the incoming Honduran government repealed the ZEDE framework. Próspera contested this under CAFTA-DR trade treaty protections, obtained legal validation from Deloitte and constitutional counsel, and resumed resident applications in October 2024. As of early 2026, the zone operates under those treaty protections while a $10.7 billion ICSID arbitration claim against Honduras proceeds.

[ LOCATION ]

Próspera is located on the Caribbean island of Roatán, Honduras, roughly 20 minutes from Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport. Direct flights reach Roatán from Miami, Houston, Atlanta, Denver, Toronto, and Madrid.

The zone encompasses 1,000+ acres with 34,000+ square meters of built real estate. The main hub clusters around Duna Tower and the Beta Building. The Pristine Bay district - a separate resort complex with a hotel, conference center, Montessori school, and 18-hole golf course - sits 15-20 minutes on foot. La Ceiba, on the Honduran mainland, hosts a secondary Próspera district focused on manufacturing and nearshoring.

[ DURATION ]

Próspera has three residency tiers that determine how long you can stay. A Visitor Pass (free) grants unlimited day visits and up to 30 nights per calendar year - suitable for exploring the zone before committing.

e-Residency ($130/year) is designed for people who spend fewer than 30 days per year in the zone but want to register a business or hold property remotely. Full Residency ($130/year plus mandatory insurance) provides 365-day access for those living or working in Próspera year-round.

The $5,000 lump-sum tax program, launched in February 2026, is structured for digital nomads with no other tax residency. It requires a minimum seven-day annual visit and registration of a business entity within the zone within 60 days of enrollment.

[ PRICING ]

Próspera membership starts free. A Visitor Pass costs nothing and covers up to 30 nights per year. e-Residency is $130/year. Full Residency for year-round residents is $130/year plus mandatory insurance, the cost of which varies by individual circumstances.

The $5,000/year lump-sum tax program, launched February 2026, covers all income tax for qualifying digital nomads. It is not available to U.S. citizens due to U.S. citizenship-based taxation rules.

Accommodation at Duna Tower starts at $850/month for a studio rental, or from $120,000 to purchase. Commercial office space in the zone starts at $500-$700/month. Próspera Weekends - 2-night intro visits on April 24-26, May 22-24, and June 26-28, 2026 - are $400 per person with housing and food included.
